After several years of drought here in the DFW Metroplex, 2015 looked to make up for our lack of rain in a big way.  With 62.61 inches of rainfall in 2015, we’ve seen more rain in one year than in any other year ever recorded (the National Weather Service records date back to 1898).  The average rainfall over the past five years was 27.91 inches.

Unfortunately, one record year of rainfall doesn’t necessarily indicate that the drought is officially gone.  It will be interesting to see what the upcoming Spring / early Summer brings.  In 2007, we had over 50 inches of rain (and the flooding to prove it) only to see barely half that amount in 2008.
